Through forced classifications, imposed racial labels, and the rewriting of historical records, generations can become disconnected from the knowledge of who they truly are.

If we can trace our identity to the original beginning of the land, we should not be subject to reclassification into an identity that erases who we truly are.

This is not an attempt to discredit or disrespect anyone else's ancestry, heritage, or identity. Rather, it is a pushback against the imposition of false labels upon Aboriginal Americans and the erasure of their ancestral identity and connection to the land.

Our identity should not be determined solely by labels imposed upon us. We have the right to question those classifications, research our ancestry, preserve our heritage, and reclaim the names and identities that reflect our history.
